Discover Birds in Grand Rapids

On September 23rd, we partnered with the Grand Rapids Audubon Club to host a birding event at Huff Park.

On the three guided bird walks, folks saw 45 (possibly 46) different species. Some highlights include fall warblers (among them, black-throated green, Magnolia, Nashville, Tennessee, Blackpoll), hawks (red-shouldered, sharp-shinned), brown thrasher, and ruby-crowned kinglet. Our bird-watchers were very excited to get a good, prolonged look at a nearby Pileated Woodpecker, which isn’t rare but always fun to see!

We hosted nearly 80 guests and enjoyed coffee, donuts, and learning more about birds together.

Thank you to everyone who came out, to the Grand Rapids Audubon Club for being such a great partner, and to the Explore Your Parks sponsors for making this event happen.
