Climbing is for everyone! The Climbing for All Festival, presented by Grand Rapids Boulder Project and Terra Firma, seeks to provide opportunities for climbers of all abilities to explore and enjoy the sport.
Friends of Grand Rapids Parks is partnering with Grand Rapids Boulder Project to provide two workshops at the festival:
- 9-11am: Kids Climbing Challenge and Scavenger Hunt (Learn more!)
- 10-11am: Introduction to Bouldering – Workshop participants will learn the basics of bouldering. The session will start with safety and terminology. Next, participants will learn basic climbing footwork and pulling techniques. Finally, participants will try out various routes with active coaching.
After the workshops, stick around for bouldering competitions! These fun, laid-back competitions will provide climbers with opportunities to test their skills at the next level. Make friends, try hard, and have fun!
ABOUT OUR PARTNER:

The Grand Rapids Boulder Project is an effort of the American Alpine Club – West Michigan Chapter in collaboration with Grand Rapids City Parks and Recreation Department to build and run climbing structures in Highland Park. Their goal is to help provide everyone with access to rock climbing and create a lively adventure culture in Grand Rapids. They are particularly interested in welcoming new climbers and those who may not otherwise have access to the sport.
