We are excited to announce that John McCrackin has joined our board of directors!
John has held senior project and design engineering positions at MillerKnoll, Steelcase, Aspen Surgical, Irwin Seating Company, and Stryker in their surgical instruments division. During his time at Steelcase, he was awarded 7 patents, and at MillerKnoll, he developed award-winning products. Currently, John is a contract Data Science Specialist with Grand Rapids Community College’s (GRCC) Institutional Research team. A self-professed “academic junkie,” his educational background includes 6 advanced degrees in engineering, science, and business.
He’s proud to be a site leader with Friends, where he’s able to plant trees and teach others how to do the same. Because John commuted regularly by city bus to GRCC along the Cesar E. Chavez (Grandville) Ave. corridor, he shared that it was a very meaningful experience helping plant trees along Cesar E. Chavez with us. In addition to his work with Friends, he volunteers at Emmanuel Hospice, Mel Trotter, Kid’s Food Basket, Kendall College of Art and Design, was previously a Commissioner in the City of Manistee, MI, and a Lifeguard at the David D. Hunting Downtown YMCA.
John is proud to be from Grand Rapids and is a very active member of the community. He’s passionate about the environment and enjoys remodeling houses, cooking, helping neighbors and friends, winemaking, fishing, kayaking, and spending time outdoors with his wife, Tara.
And, of course, loves planting trees.
