Get Ready to Explore Your Parks in 2025!

With over 1,400 acres and 90+ parks, the Grand Rapids Parks have so much to offer. Have you ever wanted to try a new outdoor activity but didn’t know where to start? We’re bringing the experts to these workshops, all you will need to do is show up and give it a try!

2025 is our 3rd year of Explore Your Parks, bringing a printed passport to help you navigate exploring the ways you can enjoy the outdoors in Grand Rapids.

What Happened at Explore Your Parks 2024

From June to October, we hosted over 1,000 participants of all ages and backgrounds at 4 free workshops through the City, providing beginner tips and tricks for outdoor activities.

In June, we partnered with our friends at GR Boulder Project during their Climbing for All Festival to host two workshops on bouldering at Highland Park.

In July, Chris Gray from Premier led workshops in skateboarding and concrete building with the help from the Chill Foundation at Clemente DIY.

In September, the Grand Rapids Audubon Club led guided bird walks through the boardwalk and trail at Huff Park, locating 46 different species and breaking last year’s record.

And finally, in October, Team Switchback taught participants about mountain biking through the trail at GR Bike Park.
